The tradition of a Christmas gingerbread house goes back many years in our family. My first memory of one is of a straighforward cottage made by Possum in Sweden in the late 1940's. When we lived in Wellesley and Weston I took over the construction and continued to make rudimentary houses. Only when Meg, Amanda, and later Tim took on the job around 1993 did the projects become more imaginative - and elaborate.
Now we have topical subjects, animation, molded shapes and strong mythic elements. Not to mention the fact that they taste really good.
In recent years Isabel, Lillie, and Matthew have taken on the construction work.
